A well prepared roadside emergency kit can make a huge difference if you encounter an issue on the road. Take the time to put together a roadside emergency kit and keep it updated for each season.

Basic Emergency Roadside Kit Items

  • First aid kit: Band-Aids, bandages, med tape, antibiotic ointment, pain reliever, finger nail clippers
  • Jumper cables or portable, lithium-ion battery with jumper cables
  • Flares or triangle reflectors
  • Flashlight and extra batteries. Check the batteries a couple times a year to make sure they still work!
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Tool kit with screwdrivers, pliers, adjustable wrench, pocket knife, allen wrench
  • Duct tape
  • Granola or energy bars
  • Bottled water

Optional/ Seasonal Emergency Roadside Kit Items

  • Blanket
  • Ice scraper
  • Kitty litter, good for icy conditions to help gain traction under your tires
  • Spray bottle with rubbing alcohol, which is good for frosted windshields
  • A quart of motor oil
  • A gallon of coolant
  • Extra medications – depending on you’re your particular needs
  • Car sickness bag
  • Spray bottle with washer fluid
  • Pen and paper
